Removals and Storage Tips from Buckley’s Removals
Moving house can be stressful. It’s one of the top three biggest causes of stress in life along with divorce and bereavement. Buckley’s Removals in Salford, Manchester endeavour to make the process as stress-free as possible and get you to your new home in one piece!
Here are some tips to consider:
A reputable firm such as ours will take great care of your belongings being fully insured and experienced. Having a strong, co-ordinated team will also save you time and hassle.
Invest in some packing materials such as boxes, bubble wrap, packing tape and a marker pen for labelling! Being organised is half the battle. Buckley’s Removals can advise you on what you might need.
Don’t leave all the packing until the last minute. Do a little bit each day before the move.
If time is short consider short-term storage units if you’ve accumulated too much stuff. You can sort it all at a later date. Buckley’s Storage can provide clean, dry and secure facilities specifically for this.
If you have more time take this opportunity to clear out anything that you no longer require. This will save you transferring stuff unnecessarily to your new abode leaving you feeling more organised at the other end.
Remember to recycle unwanted items and that charity shops are always in need of good quality items to sell on.
Label boxes on the side so they can be read whilst stacked. Remember to identify their contents and the room to which they are to be directed. You’ll be amazed at how much time this little tip will save!
Pack fragile items using bubble wrap and don’t pack items too tightly as this may cause breakages.
Pack clothes and bedding in bin liners to maximise space.
To save space, where possible, dismantle your furniture.
Keep all screws, etc together so you don’t lose them when you need to put items back together. Sandwich size bags or envelopes are ideal for this purpose however don’t forget to label these and tape them to the item.
Before the move, defrost your fridge and freezer and clean thoroughly using diluted bleach. Leave the door open a little to prevent mould.
Tape drawers closed with their contents still in if they’re not too heavy. This will save time.
When you arrive at your new home, one of the first tasks to do is to ensure that the beds are re-assembled and made so that you don’t have to think about this later on when you are tired.
